Doctena is a medical booking app and platform enabling patients to book doctor appointments online. The company offers software as a Service (SaaS) Cloud Calendar solutions to doctors and healthcare professionals. Doctena products improve the scheduling process, allowing for optimal organisation of revenue generating time for the practice. Additional to digitizing their business and processes, it gives them reach, scale and depth via the consumerfocused tools and SEO relevant presence.

Scope & market size:

Doctena is a leading European player with activities in DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg). Doctena is addressing a market of over 600.000 potential customers (healthcare professionals) for a population of 126m patients.  Each month, over 1.000.000 medical visits are scheduled via the company’s platforms. The various Doctena tools are used by over 10.000 healthcare professionals offering online appointment booking to patients. The company has local offices in the countries it operates in, employing in total over 80 people.

Highly profitable business model:

The strength of the Doctena business model resides in the fact that it combines, on one side a recurring SaaS subscription model with a highly loyal customer base, with strong branded local consumer apps and websites (i.e. This business model can be compared to other “local” services like classified verticals, which have been disrupting industries including jobs, real estate (i.e. and are at maturity highly profitable businesses yielding EBITDA margins in excess of 50%. Doctena is today operationally cash-positive in three (BE, LU, AT) of the six markets that the company operates in.

Buy and build:

Doctena has had an active and successful M&A strategy. The buy and build strategy has enabled Doctena to pursue and achieve faster the critical size for its local patient-facing platforms. Since 2016, it has acquired and merged activities with 6 established players .

Vision and potential:

Building on the strength of its relationship with its customers/doctors as well as on its brand towards users/patients, Doctena plans to offer additional products and Digital Health services, including prescription renewals, payments of visits, Patient Relationship  Management, Personal Medical assistant, video consultation to patients and doctors, becoming in the medium term a leading player in the European e-health market (valued at 6.4b€).

Team :

Doctena is run by a seasoned team of Internet entrepreneurs, IT and healthcare specialists, who have already had successful exits with similar platforms in job search (sold to Monster Inc) and real estate search (sold to Newscorp owned REA Group ASX:REA). It’s current investors and board members are serial entrepreneurs, business angels, HNWI and a Family Office.

Flagship Award 2018 Docler Holding


L’édition 2018 du Flagship Award APSI a été gagnée par Docler Holding.

Docler Holding a été récompensée pour sa contribution à l’écosystème ICT luxembourgeois lors du Golden-I Gala qui s’est tenu le 31 mai dernier à PwC Luxembourg. La société Tech a remporté le prix APSI Flagship Award 2018 et a vu son Directeur des Opérations, Márton Fülöp, nommé CIO de l’année.

Docler Holding est une entreprise technologique, construite autour du développement d’une plateforme de streaming en direct à faible latence. Elle est aujourd’hui utilisée dans divers contextes, à l’échelle globale, et notamment par l’un des sites les plus visités au monde.

Arrivée en 2013 au Luxembourg, l’entreprise n’a cessé d’étendre ses opérations sur le territoire. Employant environ 280 personnes au Grand-Duché, la société de haute technologie compte plus de  1 500 serveurs hébergés dans le pays.
